Hello and welcome back! We just saw the new James Gunn Superman movie and you guys, I have thoughts! I also might have popcorn butter in my hair but I can deal with that later.
Let’s start with the big picture. This movie was fantastic, it was definitely not what I was expecting but in the best way possible. It’s like ordering a basic burger and getting a gourmet steak served by Krypto. So yes please!
Listen, I loved seeing all the superhero characters sprinkled in but I wish we’d gotten a little more screen time with Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Metamorpho, and Mr. Terrific. Can we please get a little more of Guy Gardner being aggressively opinionated next time? Please? And don't get me started on Hawkgirl, it's not a want, it's a need.
But I get it, they’re building a universe here, like a really intense jigsaw puzzle. The pieces are all there, we just haven’t assembled the whole thing yet. But the manual says “movies and series coming soon,” so I’m patientish.
Then we have to talk about the part that made me want to claw through the screen and pull out the plug. Eve oh my gosh, I don't know who gave her a mic and screen time but I’d like to speak to the manager. She was like a human mosquito loud, persistent, and banging repetitively into the screen, every time she popped up, I swear I heard a faint buzzing in my ear!
But on the plus side we had the cutest cgi dog to grace our screen since the live action Scooby doo movie, Krypto. I said what I said. Just a cute, sweet, and slightly destructive superpowered pupper. Every single scene with him had me laughing and smiling from ear to ear. He reminded me so much of our dog Max, except Max can’t fly or shoot lasers from his eyes… yet. We’re working on it.
