I Watched Hazbin Hotel So Many Times My TV Filed a Complaint: Hazbin Hotel Review

Hello there and welcome back! This video has been a long time in the making but today we’re finally going to be jumping into my latest obsession: Hazbin Hotel. I’ve watched it so many times, I think my TV is starting to judge me. So grab your favorite snack and lets get into this.

First off, the flashbacks? Amazing. That black, white, and red color palette. Gorgeous. It gave me instant Batman: The Animated Series vibes.

However, I wonder what happened to the rest of the angels in the intro? Did they call in sick? Also, Emily wasn’t even in the opening. Did she spawn in like an NPC mid-game? They explained Lilith and Lucifer, but Eve? She got the cameo and dropped instantly out of frame. Hopefully we will see more of her in season 2.

Its great how Charlie gently critiques Alastor’s terrible commercial like, “Oh sweetie, maybe we don’t traumatize the viewers?” Meanwhile, Vaggie’s like, “This is trash, set it on fire. ” Their dynamic is hilarious.

Okay, so confession time. At first, I did not like Vaggie. She was judgier than Simon Cowell on America's Got Talent but by the end, she softened up and actually grew on me.

And Alastor? That man hates TV more than I hate lima beans. But Charlie ropes him into making a commercial, so he makes it awful on purpose. That is peak petty, and honestly? Respect. He redeems himself later with a way better ad. On the condition he never has to see a TV studio again. Boundaries! Some fans say he was selfish. I say he was “creatively petty but supportive,”.

Charlie’s reaction when her dad calls? Adorable. Vaggie’s reflex was “PANIC,” but the second she realized Charlie was just happy, she was like, “Oh good it’s not a Angel attack.” It reminded me of my husband, Erik and I. He’s chill. I’m basically Charlie doing pirouettes in traffic.

Also, I loved that van that says “Helluva Post”? I see what you did there, Vivziepop. Little nod to Helluva Boss! If you guys want a review of that too, tell me in the comments! I’m always down to ramble more.

In episode 2, Vaggie comforts Charlie during her freakout? Perfect. We all want someone to grab us mid-meltdown and go, “It’s fine. I got you.” Also, Sir Pentious. I LOVE him. Is he a dramatic Victorian snake-boy? Yes. Do I relate to his desperate need for validation? Also yes. I wish they showed him building his steampunk gadgets! I wanna see that DIY montage!

Then when Vox, Velvet, and Valentino show up, it’s chaos. Vox is smooth until someone says “Alastor,” and then he glitches harder than my Wi-Fi during a rain storm. My fave Vee is Vox, his sass is premium. The way he throws shade at Valentino? Legendary. Who is your favorite Vee? Let me know in the comments!

In “Stayed Gone,” Alastor casually roasts Vox while staying cool as a corpse cucumber and Velvet’s little smirk? I see you, girl. Also, Vox’s pet sharks? Not to be dramatic or anything but I would die for them. They're so cute. And Nifty cuddling with Keekee? Adorable.

Later, Vaggie bans Sir Pentious from keeping his egg bois and making weapons, and I’m just sitting there like, “Why are we punishing the only guy with a cool airship and minions shaped like breakfast?” The Egg Bois are precious. I need egg boi merch.

Then there's that weird Zestial and Alastor interaction. Zestial’s like, “Tell me your secrets,” and Alastor’s like, “Nah, I prefer mystery and jazz.” Ancient beings playing 4D chess but forgetting one of them doesn’t fold to pressure? Seems odd to me but oh well. What do you think?

Then there's Camilla Carmine? MVP. She claps back at Alastor with zero hesitation. Iconic. And when Zestial and Camilla sing, it's one of the best songs. I also loved that during the trust exercise Husk just nopes out the back? Hilarious.

Then we hop into episode 4 which dives into Angel and Valentino’s toxic mess. Husk calls out Angel for being fake, but before Angel can reply Val calls and Angel’s personality does a full 180. Can we say Trauma! Charlie tries to help but she’s too sweet to be firm. And Val kissing her arm to drug her? Nope. Big yikes. Luckily it doesn’t work, because Charlie is basically sugar-coated steel.

And that fight between Husk and Angel? Oof. Messy but heartfelt. I love “Loser Baby”, its such a great song, definitely one of my favorites! What is your favorite song in the show? Also Husk flinging cards like Gambit from X-Men? I cheered. Exploding dice? Yes, please.

The music battle between Lucifer and Alastor was amazing and I hate to say it but Alastor won. However, I liked the addition of Lucifer's gold violin, it was a nice reference to The Devil Went Down to Georgia from The Charlie Daniels Band.

Then Mimzy’s story about old-school Alastor? I need the prequel! The Husk and Alastor argument hit hard, Oh boy Alastor really shows his true colors there doesn't he. Husk was just looking out for him and Alastor took it as questioning him. Then when Charlie tells Lucifer that “At least he believes in me”? I felt that in my bones.

Then Charlie visiting Heaven? Shocking.  I was kinda amazed that charlie was even able to go to heaven but she managed it despite her dads concerns. And St. Peter singing at the pearly gates? I'm imagining he does that for everyone. And of course Adam and Lute try to stir the pot like when don't they but we’re keeping this spoiler-light. Also, Angel acting like Nifty’s big brother was sweet. And Nifty’s “touch him and I’ll end you” look at Valentino? I love her.

I don’t want to spoil much about the last episodes, but I’ll say this, Rosie? Delightful. A breath of classy fresh air in a city that smells like brimstone and trauma. I hope we see way more of her.
