Hazbin Hotel Season 2 ☆Charlies Breakdown ☆ Voxs Ego and My Head is Spinning ☆ (Episode 1 -4 Review)

Hi guys! So they finally launched the first four episodes of Hazbin Hotel Season 2 and all I can say is... wow. The animation leveled up harder than Vox’s ego and that man wants to be God, so you know that’s saying something.

First I was really surprised that the first episode opened with Katie Killjoy and Tom Trench, but it was a nice segway into the hotel. Vaggie wanting to change her name was kinda unexpected but totally understandable, and I love her new hairstyle. The ponytail with her big bow is totally cute.

I also wonder why Alastor is suddenly acting so withdrawn from both Vaggie, Charlie, and even Lucifer. I guess almost dying last season really broke him. The guy’s acting is about as emotionally available as a brick wall. He was super helpful back in season one, but I guess we’ll see what happens as more episodes come out.

I’m really not sure how the sinners thought that the purpose of the hotel was to recruit sinners to kill angels. Like, who read the fine print upside down? Anyway, Fat Nuggets eating all of Husk’s peanuts was super cute. I really think Fat Nuggets is definitely one of the best animal sidekicks on the show but who are we kidding, they’re all sweet babies.

I was really surprised that Angel Dust wanted and even asked about doing therapy with Charlie. Thats some serious character development! I hope he and Husk become a thing because lets be honest here they need each other.

Then we see poor Charlie, she’s torn apart by Sir Pentious’s death and cries as an Egg Boi shows her their statues of him. Vaggie comes and the poor thing tries to pretend everything is great, but she’s completely devastated. Our girl’s smiling through a crisis. I guess she took Alastor's advice from last season to heart. Poor thing.

Then they cut to Katie and Vox, and Katie was tries desperately to hit on him but of course he turned her down, because well, she’s not a deer or a moth. Vox tells Katie to stop writing anything positive about the hotel and that they have to give the right spin. I think it’s so cool how in season one Vox was basically the butt of the joke, but this season he’s downright terrifying.

Also, I was not expecting the sinners to be more obsessed with Nifty than I am, but after killing Adam it’s understandable. Cherri and Angel talking about Sir Pentious, poor thing. I need Cherri and Pentious to be together. I don’t care. It needs to happen.

Then I loved how they introduced Baxter. He has such a cool design, but I do wonder how he and Nifty are gonna end up together. I know they do, just not sure how. Maybe through chaos and a love of cleaning products. Who knows?

I loved the Vees part of Hazbin Guarantee. Valentino laying over the cybertruck was hilarious, and Vox getting a bit too power hungry toward the end of the song, perfection. I absolutely loved how Velvette and Valentino looked at him. They’re clearly getting tired of him. I’m thinking they’re definitely going to break up. What do you think? Let me know in the comments because that breakup is going to be Hell’s version of a reality show finale.

It was great to see Vox being super cute with his pet shark, Shock.wav, only to be interrupted by Velvette and Val who came to have a meeting. Then I loved how during Vox’s whole pep talk, Velvette was on her phone and Val’s doodling. Neither care what Vox has to say. He’s giving PowerPoint presentation energy and Velvette and Val are clocked out. But it’s cool to confirm that Vox was definitely a cult leader when he was alive. I need more canon backstories for all the main sinners.

Then there was the interaction between Charlie and Lucifer which was equal parts touching and hilarious. I loved when Charlie asked him how he deals with stress, and he just looks at his hoard of ducks. This man just said, “therapy? Nah. Ducks are cheaper.

I really liked the Vees song Once We Get Up There! Vox playing piano and Velvette’s dress made out of angel wings were both amazing. She heard the word “slay” and thought they meant it literally.

Anywho, Katie and Tom twisting the hotel story to make Charlie look bad while painting the Vees as heroes? Classic PR spin. I’m not sorry, I love Vox he’s a great villan. If Public Relations was a sport, he’d have 100 gold medals and a sponsorship deal or two.

Then Emily pops in just long enough to say the hotel works, then Charlie panics. Girl, your project succeeded! Take the win! I get she’s overwhelmed by the Vees and Pentious, but still.

Then we get Episode 2 with Sir Pentious in Heaven and sadly on trial and chained up. Our guy can’t catch a break, even in paradise. Sera’s in denial and Emily’s like “maybe don’t smite him.” His backstory is totally insane. He saw Jack the Ripper and was too afraid to stop him. No wonder he’s traumatized. But he risked himself for his friends and thats how he got redeemed.

Then Sera and Lute start fighting. I get Lute’s pain, but she’s letting it rule her. She’s more haunted than the Lizzie Borden house, hallucinating Adam and blaming Charlie when none of this is her fault, Nifty got Adam not Charlie. But Lute’s song “Gravity”, is an absolute banger. I didn’t care for her last season, but she’s winning me over. Then Sera locks Heaven down, divine panic mode activated.

Then theres Episode 3! Charlie inviting the Vees to the hotel? That’s like asking a fox to babysit your chickens. I love her, but why? she seriously thought the Vees would listen? Talk about delusional.

Angel running into Vox and Velvette was definitely a trauma speedrun. Charlie meant well, but she reopened every wound possible and then rubbed in about 100 barrels of salt. Then there was the train scene, Angel tries to save Husk, Vaggie saves them both, and Husk still complains? Sir, say thank you!

Charlie still hasn’t mastered “boundaries,” but at least she stands up for her friends. And Cherri staying at the hotel so she can maybe see Pentious again? YES, give her that redemption arc!

Then we go on to Episode 4, where Charlies doing a live interview with Katie Killjoy, owned of course by Vox? Our girl’s more hard headed than a goat in a steel helmet.

Alastor being mad he can’t heal fast enough is so relatable, but Lucifer roasting him didn’t help. Alastor basically got cooked twice, no wonder he quit.

But Alastor and Rosie’s new outfit were gorgeous. They’re basically cosplaying Mary Poppins and Bert, and I love it.

Rosie owning his soul was such a surprise and it was so cool to see Alastor when he was alive though it's a shame his story was once again told by someone else. I wanna hear it from him.

Rosie telling him he’s the strongest sinner in hell but no match for an archangel tells us alot. If Alastor can’t fight one, Vox thinking he can conquer Heaven is like a toaster thinking it can hack the Pentagon.

The Alastor vs. Vees battle was wild, Vox’s wires, Velvette’s social media magic, Valentino’s… guns. What is he, Hawkeye

I absolutely love Nifty’s J-pop number it was adorable. Seeing how she views the hotel was pure serotonin. She genuinely believes in Charlie’s dream, and I love her for it.

Then Alastor stepping up to protect everyone? That’s him pretending not to care while doing the most caring thing possible.

And that flashback to Vox’s sweater vest era? Perfection. I am definitely thinking Alastor just wants to mess with Vox and divide the Vees, what do you think? Let me know in the comments below.
